Man Struck, Killed On Northwest Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday night in the Irving Park neighborhood, police said.

Emergency crews were called to 3729 N. Kilbourn Ave. on the Northwest Side after receiving a report of a man pinned beneath a train about 8:20 p.m., according to authorities.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:37 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. As 6 a.m. Monday morning he had not yet been identified.

Amtrak train No. 341 left Chicago at 8:05 p.m. en route to Milwaukee and struck the person about 8:17 p.m., Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said.

There were 209 passengers on the train, Woods said.

None of the passengers or crew was injured.
