11-Year-Old Boy Injured When Minivan Crashes Into Gurnee School

(CBS) -- An 11-year-old boy was pinned under a van inside the Woodland Middle School in Gurnee this afternoon and police say the driver of that van mistook the gas pedal for the brake.

Gurnee Police say the 67-year-old driver of the Honda minivan hit the wrong pedal and backed his vehicle into the northeast entrance of Woodland Middle School.

The van pinned an 11-year-old boy,a 6th grader, and the fire department says it took four minutes the free him with the "Jaws of Life."

Police say the boy was leaving the school with his father when the van crashed through the door.

Both Gurnee Police and Fire say the boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries, mostly cuts and abrasions to his legs and is out of the hospital.
