$1M Powerball Prize Winner Bought Ticket In Round Lake

ROUND LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- None of the three big winners in the $448 million Powerball jackpot were from the Chicago area, but there was at least one big prize in the far northern suburbs.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports an Amoco gas station in Round Lake sold a Powerball ticket that won a $1 million prize in Wednesday's drawing, by matching the first five numbers, but not the Powerball.

"It's pretty awesome," said gas station manager Marnia Chapai. "It's really, really exciting. I can't get the smile off my face, knowing that I don't know who it is yet, and just wondering who it is."

She said it's the first big winner sold in the five years she's worked there.

"I ask them when they come to the register, 'Did you check your Powerball tickets? Somebody's won here.' Some lady just ran here screaming, but she wasn't even the winner," Chapai said.

She knew all along she wasn't the winner.

"I didn't play. I didn't play," she said.

The station will receive $10,000 for selling the $1 million ticket.
