Police: Glendale Heights Man Tried To Hire Hitman To Kill Family

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, Ill. (STMW) -- A west suburban Glendale Heights man has been charged with trying to hire a "hitman" to murder some of his family members.

Matthew Olszewski, 23, allegedly tried to hire a hitman to murder his aunt, uncle and an elderly resident of his home, according to a release from the DuPage County Sheriff's office.

Authorities received a tip that Olszewski, who was in custody for a theft charge and unlawful use of a weapon, was interested in hiring a hitman to arrange a contract killing against his relatives, the release said.

He allegedly arranged a meeting with the "hitman," who was an undercover officer, to instruct him on how to commit the killings and to arrange payment, the release said.

Olszewski, of the 5000 block of Glen Ellyn Road in Glendale Heights, was charged Thursday with three counts of solicitation of murder and three counts of solicitation of murder for hire, all Class X felonies, the release said.

He is expected to appear in bond court Friday.
