(WSCR) NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. stopped by the 670 The Score studios Monday afternoon to visit with The Boers and Bernstein Show.

Though Dan Bernstein and Terry Boers were out, Earnhardt, one of NASCAR's most popular drivers, spoke with Matt Abbatacola and Doug Buffone live in studio.

Earnhardt is in Chicago promoting  the first race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the GEICO 400, which takes place Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Chicagoland Speedway.

"It's the first race in the Chase, which is our playoff system," Earnhardt said. "It happens in Chicago, which is a great place to kick off for us. It's just a good market. We've really enjoyed racing in front of the fans in this area.

"We really enjoy this race track. It's got a good amount of 'age' on the asphalt, meaning the asphalt is worn and it's slick. What happens when we get that is the track widens out in the corners and you'll see guys going through the turns in different grooves, providing multi-groove racing."
