How To Get Some Payback On Back To School Shopping

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It's the second-busiest shopping season of the year--right behind Christmas.

It's the back-to-school rush to outfit the kids with everything they'll need to start class.

But what if you could make a little money while you're shopping?

CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker shows how you can do just that with back-to-school promotions that put money in your pocket.

A package of Pampers disposable diapers, which is not on too many back-to-school lists, does come with a bonus.

Target is offering a $15 gift card with that purchase, which parents can turn into cash for school supplies. Another big hit: An Acer touchscreen laptop includes a $50 gift card.

There's more.

If you spend $30 at Staples, you'll get a $10 gift card to Kohl's.

If you spend $30 at Kohl's, you'll get a $5 gift card at Staples.

Apple offers a $50 app gift card with any iPhone or iPad. They'll throw in a $100 gift card with the purchase of a Mac.

At CVS, a customer who spends $20 on anything from backpacks to lunch bags and pens and pencils, will get a $5 gift card.

Some retailers are also offering online promotions. Certain laptops at Wal-Mart mean $50 bucks in your pocket--and $200 for select Dells.

All the deals are good deals, but these are not your traditional gift cards.

The cards will really be more like vouchers, meaning they may have an expiration date or may be limited to certain products.

Over the next couple of weeks, some deals will expire and you'll find new ones.

So be sure to check the store's online website or grab one of the ads at the store.
