Man Struck With Two-By-Four, Robbed In West Town

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was seriously injured when he was struck with a two-by-four and robbed Sunday afternoon in the West Town neighborhood on the North Side.

The intoxicated 25-year-old victim was sitting in a park in the 1400 block of North Damen at 1:30 p.m. when he was struck from behind with a large board, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

The victim sustained multiple injuries to his nose, spine and eye, Sullivan said. He was taken in serious condition to St. Mary's Hospital.

His backpack, containing clothes and books, was stolen, Sullivan said.

The attacker is described as a 28-30-year-old man, 6 feet and 185 pounds with a shaved head, Sullivan said.
