Chicago Lawyer Raised in Syria Hopeful For U.S. Intervention

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago lawyer who has spent the past 2-and-a-half years fighting the Assad regime says the Syrian people are seeing light at the end of the tunnel, reports WBBM's Steve Miller.

Finally, says Syrian American Yaser Tabbara, some hope now that the U.S. is at least sounding bellicose with regard to Syria.

"We are finally getting to the point where we could see perhaps the light at the end of the tunnel. We can see that there will be a moment where we could maybe breathe a sigh of relief out of this very, very long nightmare."

Tabbara was born in Chicago but was raised in Syria and is a Chicago lawyer.

He says he believes that whatever the U.S. has planned will be a strong signal and will, he says, at least alleviate some of the Syrian people's suffering.
