Round Lake Girl, 9, Drowns In Fox Lake

INGLESIDE, Ill. (STMW) -- A 9-year-old girl from Round Lake drowned Tuesday evening while swimming in Fox Lake, in north suburban Ingleside.

Police responded to 36000 block of Stanton Point Road about 6:30 p.m. and found adults had pulled the girl from the water near a boat launch, according to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's office.

The 9-year-old Round Lake girl had been swimming near the boat launch with other children when she went under the water, the release said.

She was taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry where she was pronounced dead, the release said. Her name was not being released Tuesday night.

Sheriff's police continue to investigate the incident.
