Body Found In Lake On The South Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The body of a man was found in Lake Michigan Saturday afternoon on the city's South Side.

First responders were called to the lake at and East 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, near Promontory Point Park about 4:07 p.m., Chicago Fire Media said.

There they recovered the body of an adult male from the water, the fire department said.

The fire department said Chicago Police are conducting a death investigation, though the police Office of News Affairs could not immediately release information on the man's death.

On Wednesday night a 54-year-old man went missing from the park, though authorities could not confirm if the recovered body was that man.

The 54-year-old brother last saw him going into the water with a raft and then took a nap, police said. When he woke up, his brother had not returned.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit and the Chicago Fire Department searched the area, but did not find the man, police said.
