CHICAGO (CBS) -- The South Side church where thieves tore apart the heating and air conditioning units last week is holding a "phone-in-a-thon" through Monday.

Church Phone-In-A-Thon Raises Money To Replace Stolen AC Parts

Seven out of nine air conditioning and heating units at Christ Universal Church were dismantled - their condenser coils stripped away to get at the copper inside.

Cost to get the units back in service: at least $35,000, one technician says.

Bishop Paul Hall says he's meeting with the insurance company on Tuesday - but he doesn't know how much the company will pay for.

"I don't expect them to cover all of it. They said they were going to look at what we're submitting to them... They may do 50 percent."

Hall says a phone-in-a-thon has already raised at least $10,000 to get the air flowing again at the church and the Paul Hall Community Center, which provides tutoring and after-school programs.

The number for the phone-in-a-thon at Christ Universal Church at 10140 South Halsted is: 773-298-1209.
