Retirement-Home Employee Charged With Punching Elderly Resident
BARTLETT, Ill. (STMW) -- A nursing assistant is charged with felony battery for allegedly punching an 85-year-old resident of the northwest suburban Bartlett retirement home where she works, the Courier-News is reporting.
Police said they received a complaint Thursday from another staff member at Clare Oaks Retirement Community, at 829 Carillon Drive.
Police said they were told that at about 8 a.m. that day, nursing assistant Marquita Howard-Myles, 29, allegedly punched an 85-year-old woman in her chest.
Following an investigation, police and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office charged Howard-Myles, who lives in Addison, with felony aggravated battery.
The victim did not require additional medical treatment, police said.
