Bomb Threats Shut Down Three Kane County Courthouses

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A series of bomb threats forced the evacuation of three Kane County courthouses on Wednesday.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating bomb threats made against the Kane County Judicial Center on Route 38 in St Charles, the Kane Branch Court and Kane County Clerk's Office which are housed in the same building on Randall Road in St Charles, and the Elgin Branch Court in Elgin.

The courts were evacuated around 10:30 a.m. The Judicial Center and Branch court were open again before noon.

Officials anticipate the resumption of all services by this afternoon, probably around 1 p.m.

Police are investigating the origin of the threats, but had no further information.
