The man and woman were walking outside the Washington Heights neighborhood gas station in the 8900 block of South Ashland Avenue about 2 a.m. when someone in a dark-colored sedan driving by opened fire, police said.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the lower back and the 22-year-old woman was shot in the backside, police said. Both were taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
