Boy, 14, Shot Outside School On Southwest Side

(STMW) -- A teenage boy was wounded in an Ashburn shooting Thursday night on the Southwest Side.

The 14-year-old boy was shot in the back about 7:45 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Homan Avenue, authorities said.

Paramedics initially took the boy in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Fire Media Affairs. Police said the boy was in "stable" condition.

The shooting happened outside Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy, and officers searched the front landscaping with flashlights Thursday night.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
