4 Dead, 15 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Four men were killed and 15 people have been injured in shootings across the city since Friday evening.

The most recent fatal shooting happened about 3 a.m. Saturday on the Near West Side.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue and found a 22-year-old man on the sidewalk, with multiple gunshot wounds to the leg, police said.

Jamal Coleman, of the 5400 block of West Monroe Street, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Another 23-year-old man later walked in to Stroger hospital with a gunshot wound in his leg and told authorities he had been hurt in the same Washburne Avenue attack, police said.

About 11:10 p.m. Friday, Robert Hart, 37, of the 5800 block of South Shields Avenue, was killed when a gunman came up behind him in an alley and started shooting in the 6000 block of South Halsted Street in the South Side Englewood neighborhood, officials said.

Hart was shot multiple times and taken to Stroger hospital, where he died just after midnight, the medical examiner's office said.

About 6:30 p.m. Friday, Brenden Temple, 21, of the 4000 block of South Indiana Avenue, was shot once in the head in the 6600 block of South Honore Street in the West Englewood neighborhood, officials said.

Temple was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died about 7:20 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner's office.

The weekend's first fatal shooting happened about 6:10 p.m. Friday in the South Shore neighborhood.

Jaleel Pearson, 18, of the 6800 block of South Artesian Avenue was shot in the chest and arm in the 2200 block of East 71st Street, police said.

Pearson was pronounced dead at Stroger hospital about an hour later, according to the medical examiner's office.

At least 15 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening, including two men who were shot around the corner from each other in separate attacks just minutes apart in Englewood on Saturday afternoon.
