BOLINGBROOK (CBS) -- It'll be Pink Friday tomorrow at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital with fun events designed to bring awareness to a serious issue as a kickoff to October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

'Bra Bling' Contest At Hospital

There'll be a "Bra Bling" contest in which departments submit decorated bras and a bake sale to benefit the hospital's breast center.

Radiologist Dr. Sheela Konda, who specializes in breast imaging, says there's also going to be a "hot pink tree" on which the names of breast cancer survivors and those who didn't will be written on pink ribbons.

Dr. Konda says every woman should be getting a mammogram.

She says it's a screening tool that "reduces mortality by 30 percent. No other imaging test can say that."

In addition to the Bling Your Bra contest and the bake sale, the doctor says children will be walking around with pink cookies, and survivors will be given pink carnations.
