Woman Charged In West Side Stabbing Death
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Bond was set at $900,000 for a woman charged with allegedly stabbing another woman to death during a domestic dispute in the Austin neighborhood early Friday.
Debra Jean Jones, 54, is charged with first-degree murder for the domestic-related stabbing in the 1100 block of North Mayfield Avenue, police News Affairs said.
She and Shounya Burnett, 45, were arguing about 12:55 a.m. in a first-floor apartment when Jones, also of the 1100 block of North Mayfield, allegedly stabbed Burnett in the neck and chin with a knife, authorities claim.
Burnett, of the 4500 block of West Grenshaw Street, was dead at the scene, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Bond was set Saturday at $900,000 for Jones for charges in connection with the murder, according to the Cook County Sheriff's website.
Area North detectives are investigating.
