CHICAGO (CBS) — If you get an unsolicited call offering help with your computer, hang up.

Police in St. Charles say it’s happened several times over the last week: A resident will get a call from someone who says he–or she–works for Microsoft and can “help fix a problem” with their computer.
Police say it’s not a computer repairman on the other end of the line.

St. Charles Police say residents should never give out credit card information or take any help from these unsolicited callers.
Just hang up.

The callers “have a strong foreign accent,” police said.
