Teen Boy Shoots Teen While Displaying A Gun He Found

AURORA, Ill. (STMW) -- A teenage boy was charged after allegedly shooting another teen while displaying a gun he found Friday in west suburban Aurora.

Officers received a call of a person shot about 10:20 p.m. in the area of Boulder Court and Blackstone Drive and found a 14-year-old boy shot in the leg, Aurora police said.

The shooting occurred when another 14-year-old boy was showing a gun he found to the victim and two other boys, ages 15 and 17, police said.

The boy was seriously wounded but his injury is not life threatening, police said. He was initially hospitalized at an Aurora hospital and was later transferred to another suburban hospital, police said. No one else was injured.

The gun was recovered inside the boy's home, police said.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and is being held at Kane County Youth Home, police said.

Aurora police are investigating.
