MORTON GROVE, Ill. (STMW) — An elderly man was found dead in garage that caught fire Saturday in north suburban Morton Grove.

Firefighters who arrived at the home in the 7300 block of Arcadia Street found the garage at the residence on fire, according to a release from Morton Grove police.

While extinguishing the fire, an 88-year-old man was found dead in the garage, the release said.

Morton Grove police and fire officials could not be reached for further comment.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office was notified that a deceased man was in the garage about 1:30 p.m., an official said.

The man’s name was not immediately released, pending notification of family.
