One Killed, Two Injured In West Suburban Crash

VIRGIL TOWNSHIP, Ill. (STMW) -- One person was killed and two others injured in a two-car crash in unincorporated Kane County on Sunday afternoon, the Kane County Sheriff's office said.

A 2012 Ford Focus was eastbound on Route 38 west of Meredith Road in Virgil Township about 12:30 p.m. when it crossed the center line and hit a 2007 BMW SUV that was travelling west, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

Kelly Morsch, 23, of Hinckley, the driver and sole occupant of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of the BMW was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, while a passenger was taken via ambulance to Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, the sheriff's office said. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Route 38 was closed between Meredith and Watson roads for about four hours while the crash was investigated, the sheriff's office said.

No citations have been issued as sheriff's detectives and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate.
