Police Question Person In Shooting Of 6-Year-Old Boy
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Detectives have been questioning a person of interest in connection with the shooting of a 6-year-old boy in the Gage Park neighborhood.
A bullet pierced his lung when Brian Fernandez was shot in the shoulder and chest Wednesday night, as he was riding home in his 19-year-old brother's car, following a tutoring session. Brian was sitting in the back seat with his 7-year-old brother.
Police said two gunmen approached the car, and got into an argument with the driver in the 5600 block of South Mozart Street. When Brian's older brother pulled away, at least one of the men who had approached the car fired shots, shattering the back window, and striking Brian three times.
Neither of Brian's brothers were hurt. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in serious condition on Thursday, following surgery for his wounds.
Area Central Detectives were questioning at least one person in connection with the shooting early Friday.
