CHICAGO (STMW) — A man was arrested after a Chicago Police squad car was stolen Monday morning in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

The suspect jumped out of the stolen squad car, which was being pursued by other police vehicles, in the 7200 block of South Lowe Avenue at 9:20 a.m. and a foot chase ensued, authorities said.

The chase ended in the 7600 block of South Normal Avenue when the suspect fell down and suffered a head injury, authorities said.

He was taken in “stable” condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Larry Langford said.
