Prosecutors: Man Followed Woman Home, Stole Her Electronics

(STMW) -- A man followed a female commuter from the Paulina CTA station on the North Side, then forced his way into her apartment and grabbed her throat before stealing her belongings, Cook County prosecutors said Saturday.

Martise Earl Lowe is alleged to have trailed behind the 26-year-old victim from the train to her apartment, in the 1700 block of West Henderson, the Sun-Times is reporting.

Lowe put his hand around the woman's throat and threw her to the ground before stealing her MacBook and iPhone, prosecutors said.

The woman called police and gave them a description. Lowe, 21, was found at the Western Brown Line station while holding the stolen electronics, prosecutors said.

Police took Lowe back to the apartment, where the victim identified him, prosecutors said.

Lowe, of the 3300 block of North Broadway, was ordered held in lieu of $300,000 bail Saturday for home invasion and aggravated kidnapping.

He was currently on probation for a robbery at the time of his arrest this week.

The victim was not hospitalized but complained of pain and tenderness to her neck.
