Police: 15 Year-Old Girl Beaten, Sexually Assaulted

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police say a 15-year-old girl who was found unconscious Tuesday morning in a backyard on the Northwest Side was beaten and sexually assaulted.

The teenager was found "battered, bloody and unconscious" in the backyard of a home in the 2400 block of North Long Avenue a few minutes after 6 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

Police say the girl was struck about the head and dragged into the rear yard of a nearby residence and sexually assaulted.

The girl was found at 8:10 a.m. and was taken to Mt. Sinai in serious condition. Police say they've yet to be able to speak to the girl.

The man who found her said it appeared she may have struggled to enter his house or ring the doorbell.

"It looked like she was making attempts to come in and maybe hit the doorbell. I am assuming that she is trying the doorknob and trying to reach at the bells to ring. It doesn't look she made it, there was no doorbell ringing," said Michael Klockowski.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
