CHICAGO (CBS) — It’s getting down to the wire as Chicagoans try to wrap up their Christmas shopping in the next couple of days.

WBBM Newsradio’s Regine Schlesinger checked out Macy’s flagship store on State Street, which is staying open through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Among the shoppers milling around at 8 a.m. on Monday, many like Carol were there to pick up a few last-minute gifts.

“Just trying to get some last-minute Frango mints, and things for people,” she said.

Other than her few purchases at Macy’s on Monday, her Christmas shopping is done.

“It’s not wrapped, but it’s done. It’s purchased,” she said.

Others, especially among the men, still had all their shopping to do.

James, who just moved to Chicago from England, was buying for all of his family, which is visiting for the holidays.

“There’s six of them. Yeah, a big crowd,” he said.

Macy’s flagship store on State Street and several other locations have been open around-the-clock since Friday morning, and will stay open through 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve, to accommodate shopping procrastinators.
