Person Of Interest Questioned In Sexual Assault Of Woman Near Midway

(STMW) -- Police are questioning a person of interest in connection with the sexual assault of a 69-year-old woman on the Southwest Side Friday night, police said.

No charges have been filed against the man as of early Sunday.

The woman was getting into her vehicle in a secure parking lot in the 4600 block of West 59th Street after exiting the Orange Line train when a man who said he had handgun forced her into the vehicle about 4:15 p.m., according to the alert from Area Central detectives.

The man sexually assaulted her and stole her money, cell phone and ATM card, police said.

After the assault, he drove her to various locations and made withdrawals from her bank account, before abandoning her and the vehicle on the West Side, police said.
