Two Women Killed In Eisenhower Expressway Crash
FOREST PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- Two women were killed in an early morning crash on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway in west suburban Forest Park on Sunday.
About 3:45 a.m., a 1998 Ford Windstar van was stalled in the eastbound center lane on Interstate 290 near the First Avenue exit when it was rearended by a 2012 Dodge Durango SUV, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
The Ford's driver, 30-year-old Evelette Rivera, and back seat passenger, 29-year-old Crystal Hernandez, both died on impact, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Rivera, of the 2900 block of North Merrimac Avenue, and Hernandez, of the 3700 block of West Grand Avenue, were both pronounced dead at the scene at 3:55 a.m., the medical examiner's office said. Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
A 25-year-old passenger in the front seat of the Ford and the Dodge Durango's driver, 26, were both taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
All inbound lanes of the expressway were open as of 8 a.m. after being shut down for more than four hours.
State police are investigating.
