Google's Answer To The Question: 'Why Is Illinois ...'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- This certainly doesn't reflect well on the Land Of Lincoln.

Look what happens when folks using Google type in the words, "Why is Illinois ...

Why_Is_Illinois

Yes, the first "autocomplete" option from Google is "so corrupt." (We first noticed this from the tweet by @amazing_maps pictured at the top.)

It's not that Google doesn't like us.

From the Google support page, here is how the search engine determines the results: "As you type, Autocomplete predicts and displays queries to choose from. The search queries that you see as part of Autocomplete are a reflection of the search activity of users and the content of web pages indexed by Google."

Translated: Illinois has a bad reputation on the Internet. Also note that other key searches reference the fact that the state is "broke."

Of course, one could argue that it is well-deserved with the revolving door of governors, alderman and other pols who have been sent to prison over the years. That and the multi-billion dollar pension shortfall for government workers.
