Man Shot And Killed In Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot and killed early Thursday in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.

The man, 29, of the 6000 block of South Richmond Avenue, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest about 1:30 a.m. in the 8100 block of South Marshfield Avenue, authorities said.

When officers arrived, they found the man bleeding and unresponsive on the sidewalk, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:34 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His name was not released early Thursday.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
