Quinn To Push Legislation Requiring All Workers To Get Paid Sick Days

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Governor Pat Quinn says he's ready to make another push for a law mandating that businesses give employees at least some paid sick days.

Governor Quinn says not everyone realizes that there are working people who are not entitled to even one paid sick day, so if they are ill they have to decide if they can drag themselves in or lose a day's pay.

Quinn To Push Legislation Requiring All Workers To Get Paid Sick Days

Quinn's budget team is drafting legislation that would require all workers to have two earned sick days.

"I really feel we have to be a lot more humane and our proposal of two sick days a year for folks who work hard, I think that is pretty reasonable and I think it is really in the interests of all," said Quinn.

Some in the business community might disagree., but it is an election year when proposals for sick days and a higher minimum wage do tend to come up.
