Rose Hasn't Given Possible Return Much Thought
(CBS) In his first comments to reporters in about two months, Bulls point guard Derrick Rose said Wednesday night that he hasn't thought much about a possible return this season from the torn medial meniscus in his right knee.
"We haven't even talked about it," Rose said at a charity event, according to CSN Chicago. "I just come in every day, six days a week, and just try to do all my work and see how far it's going to take me when I step back on the court. I work out six days a week, so I don't have time to think about basketball."
For now, Rose is running on the AlterG, an anti-gravity machine, and shooting jumpers.
Bulls general manager Gar Forman and coach Tom Thibodeau have both emphasized the team is operating under the premise that Rose will be out for the season. He suffered the injury on Nov. 22 and had surgery three days later to repair the meniscus.
Rose also downplayed the idea that his spirits were down because of the injury and rehab.
"I said it was going to be hard but I was never down," Rose said, according to CSN Chicago. "I just look at is as a better way to better myself as an athlete and build every part of my body all over again and come back better."
