(CBS) The Bulls have signed Jarvis Varnado to a 10-day contract, the Chicago Tribune and Yahoo! Sports reported.

The move brings the Bulls’ roster to 13 players, and the 6-foot-9 Varnado is a shot blocker who gives them some more depth that coach Tom Thibodeau desires. In an effort to stay below the luxury tax line, the Bulls had been using 12-man rosters for stretches. The minimum roster size for the NBA is 13 players, but 12-man rosters are allowed for 14 days.

Varnado was playing for the Iowa Energy, the Bulls’ Developmental League affiliate.
