Mental Fitness Evaluation For One Of Four Accused Of Grisly Murder
JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) -- One of four people accused of a grisly January 2013 double homicide will be evaluated for mental fitness as the case continues to move toward trial.
Will County Judge Gerald Kinney ordered the evaluation Monday for Joshua Miner, 25, at the urging of Miner's defense attorney.
The men said Miner wrote the judge a letter. They did not elaborate on its contents, though, and the letter itself has been sealed from public view.
Meanwhile, prosecutors said they are nearly done analyzing the forensic evidence in the case, including fingerprints. Miner and his co-defendants are next expected in court March 19.
Miner, Adam Landerman, 20; and Alisa Massaro and Bethany McKee, both 19, are charged with the murders last year of 22-year-olds Eric Glover and Terrance Rankins at Massaro's Joliet home.
Authorities have said the four robbed and strangled Glover and Rankins, and then Landerman and Massaro continued to party and play video games with Miner.
A source also confirmed for the Chicago Sun-Times that police reports, which contain conflicting interviews with the suspects, allege Miner and Massaro had sex on the victims' bodies.
The group allegedly planned to dismember the bodies before disposing of them, according to the reports, and they talked about keeping the teeth as trophies.
