Would-Be Robbers Throw Bleach In Woman's Face

(STMW) -- A woman suffered minor injuries when a pair of would-be robbers threw bleach in her face Saturday afternoon in the Uptown neighborhood.

The 22-year-old woman was walking in the 4400 block of North Paulina Street about 3:30 p.m. when a man and a woman came up from behind her and tried to grab her purse, according to police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

The woman was able to fend off the robbery attempt, but one of the attackers then threw bleach at the woman's face from a plastic bottle before the pair ran away, Sullivan said.

The 22-year-old woman was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital in good condition and later released, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
