Toddler Found Alone On Austin Street

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A toddler has been turned over to the state Department of Child and Family Services after he was found alone and crying on the street Sunday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Someone saw the 3-year-old child crying in the 4900 block of West Adams Street about 5 a.m., police said.

Officers found the child and took him to Loretto Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition early Sunday but did not have any injuries, police said.

The child was turned over to DCFS Sunday morning, police said. His parents have been located, but it doesn't appear any arrests will be made, police said.

Police are still investigating why the child was alone.
