10 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Ten people have been wounded -— one critically — in city shootings since Friday afternoon.

All four of the weekend shootings occurred on the West Side.

The most recent shooting happened about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the Austin neighborhood when six people were shot at a house party in the 4900 block of West Race Avenue, police said.

Two males got into an argument at the party, police said. One of them left, returned with a handgun and opened fire into the home.

Two people were seriously wounded in the shooting, police said. A 20-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest, back and leg. A 20-year-old woman was in serious condition with gunshot wounds to the abdomen and lower left leg. She either drove or was driven to Loretto Hospital, but was being transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Four other victims were listed in "stable" condition after the shooting, police said. Three people — an 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man — were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and a 22-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

A man was wounded in another shooting in the Austin neighborhood early Saturday.

The 19-year-old man walked inside Loretto Hospital about 1:30 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. He told police he was driving earlier in the 4700 block of West Harrison Street when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. He drove himself to Loretto shortly after, where he was listed in "stable" condition.

Less than an hour earlier, a 29-year-old man was critically wounded in a West Town neighborhood shooting.

The man was found in a vehicle about 12:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Huron Street with a gunshot wound to his lower left back, police said. He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

About 9:30 p.m. Friday, two teens were shot in the Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of North Central Avenue, police said. Two males — ages 17 and 19 — were shot while walking on the sidewalk, one in the leg and another in the buttocks. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings as area detectives investigate.
