Woman Killed In Chicago Ridge Crash

CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. (STMW) -- A woman was killed when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree Thursday afternoon in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge.

Cindy Schultz was driving southbound on Ridgeland Avenue near the intersection of 106th Street in Chicago Ridge about 1:15 p.m. when she drove off the road and struck a tree on the west side of the street, according to a statement from Chicago Ridge police.

She was the only person in the vehicle, and no one else was hurt, police said.

Schultz, of the 10300 block of South Normandy Avenue in Chicago Ridge, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died at 2:56 p.m. She was 50 years old, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Chicago Ridge police are investigating.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
