Animals Seized From Hampshire Farm To Be Put Up For Adoption

(CBS) -- Horses and other animals confiscated from an Elgin woman charged with animal cruelty and neglect were being put up for adoption.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports a Kane County judge has decided Stacy Fiebelkorn automatically forfeited her 30 horses, donkeys, and other animals; because she didn't pay for their upkeep.

She'd been given until last Friday to come up with the $30,000 to pay for the care being given to dozens of farm animals that had been confiscated.

Last month, dozens of volunteers helped Kane County Animal Control workers remove more than 90 animals from a farm in Hampshire where Feibelkorn had been renting space.

Officials said they found 12 dead animals at the farm, including a horse and a horse fetus.

The volunteers who helped rescue the remaining animals were being honored by the Kane County Board.
