(CBS) Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has long antagonized TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager with sarcastic and short responses to questions during in-game interviews, but on Sunday he displayed why he’s so well-respected in NBA circles not just as a coaching guru but also a person.

As Sager sits out the postseason after recently being diagnosed with leukemia, TNT used his son, Craig Sager Jr., as a sideline reporter during Game 1 of the Spurs-Mavericks first-round Western Conference series. After giving the younger Sager thoughtful answers, Popovich turned to the camera and showed his respect for the elder Sager.
