Chicago Man Charged With Giving Girlfriend HIV
(STMW) -- A Chicago man is facing felony charges after failing to tell his ex-girlfriend that he had HIV and ended up giving her the virus, Cook County prosecutors said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Johanson Little and the woman dated for a year between June 2012 and June 2013, Assistant State's Attorney Dan Griffin said.
This February, the woman found out she tested positive for HIV, Griffin said.
The woman, who didn't have sex with anyone else during her relationship with Little, subsequently found out from Little's family that his wife died of AIDS — not ovarian cancer as he had told her, Griffin said.
When the woman confronted Little, 31, he admitted that he knew he was HIV positive during their relationship, Griffin said.
Little had been HIV positive since 2003.
Judge James Brown ordered Little, of the 4400 block of South State Street, held in lieu of $750,000 bail Thursday for criminal transmission of HIV — a class two felony.
