(CBS) In an attempt to shore up a battered bullpen, the White Sox on Friday claimed right-hander Hector Noesi off waivers from the Rangers, the team announced.

The 27-year-old Noesi is 0-0 with a 14.21 ERA (10 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings) this season in a combined five appearances for the Rangers and Mariners.

He was traded from Seattle to Texas on April 12.

Noesi had a 6.59 ERA in 27 1/3 innings for the Mariners last season. The move increases the White Sox 40-man roster to 40 players.
