CHICAGO (CBS) — Before today, Chicagoans had travel outside the city to indulge in Sonic, a drive-in fast food restaurant established in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Well, the wait for one within Chicago’s city limits — and it was a long wait — is finally over. The Sonic Drive-In in Uptown opened its doors to the public Thursday.

In a Facebook post that started, “You’ve been so patient, Chicago…,” Sonic Drive-In announced the opening earlier this morning.

This is after multiple delays had plagued the restaurants opening. Originally supposed to be open in January, Sonic eventually set their grand opening for May 6th. Having finished getting ready, the burger-peddlers decided to start selling food May 1st.

With that said, they still plan on having their big grand opening event on May 6th.
