Sexual Predator Gets 10 Years For Viewing Child Porn At Library

WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) -- A northwest suburban man listed by the state as a sexual predator will spend 10 years in prison for looking at child pornography on a computer at a public library last year.

Scott Baudin, 59, of Bloomingdale pleaded guilty to one felony count of possession of child pornography, according to a statement from the DuPage County State's Attorney's office.

Baudin went to the Bloomingdale Public Library on the morning of April 18, 2013, prosecutors said. A library employee noticed what appeared to be child porn on the computer terminal Baudin was using, and library officials contacted police.

An investigation revealed Baudin possessed more than 270 computer disks and more than 100 VHS tapes containing child pornography, prosecutors said.

The Illinois Sex Offender registry lists Baudin as a sexual predator for being convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault in Cook County. He was 44 at the time, and the victim was a 6-year-old, according to the registry.

Baudin has been held at the DuPage County Jail on a $500,000 bond since his arrest in July 2013. He will be required to serve 50 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
