Man Arrested Trying To Meet Teen For Sex: Police

(CBS) -- A former coach at Vernon Hills High School has been arrested at another north suburban high school and charged with indecent solicitation.

The suspect, 25-year-old Emmanuel Perez, volunteered two years ago as a wrestling coach at Vernon Hills High School, but Lincolnshire Police school resource officer Thomas Branick said Perez is not currently employed or volunteering at the school. He was once a student at Stevenson High School, where the arrest was made.

Branick said Perez said Perez had exchanged a series of e-mails with a 15-year-old girl and had set up a plan to meet Tuesday evening.

"He was there specifically to engage in sexual conduct with this victim," Branick said.

Stevenson staff learned of the plan and notified police. Branick said that when police from Lincolnshire and from the Lake County Sheriff's Office cybercrimes unit met and arrested Perez without incident, he claimed he was at Stevenson because of his coaching work and denied engaging in sex with anyone underage.

The girl was not present. Friends had dropped off Perez, but police said they had no knowledge of his alleged intent.

Bond is set at $250,000, and Branick said additional charges are possible. He said police are going through materials seized through a search warrant.

Perez returns to court Tuesday.
