Bike Rider Killed In Possible Hit-Run Accident In Mundelein
MUNDELEIN (CBS) -- A man from northwest suburban Mundelein was found dead along Route 83 Thursday evening after a possible hit-and-run crash, police said.
Thursday afternoon, police began conducting a missing person investigation after a 40-year-old man did not return home Wednesday night, police said.
Police identified the man as Carl H. Roderwald, 40, of Mundelein.
Officers located the man's cell phone near the intersection of routes 83 and 176.
Roderwald and his damaged bicycle were found in tall grass along Route 83, just north of McRae Lane.
It appeared he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene, police said.
