Man Critically Injured In West Side Shooting

(STMW) --A man was shot and critically wounded in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side Monday morning.

Police found a 43-year-old man shot in the face about 7:15 a.m. in the 2800 block of West Arthington Street, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said, citing preliminary information.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said.

A 50-year-old man was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the same location, police said. It was not immediately clear if he had been shot, or if his death was related to the shooting.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death but no other details were released Monday afternoon.
