CHICAGO (CBS) — After the past several months of generally miserable weather, just about every living species in Chicago would agree that Friday morning was perfect for a stroll.

That would include a pair of deer on the North Side.

CBS 2’s Mai Martinez spotted the deer duo in a grassy knoll near Lake Shore Drive and Irving Park Road.

At one point, it appeared the deer were considering crossing the street but after looking at traffic decided against it.

Then one of the deer trotted down the sidewalk underneath Lake Shore Drive, perhaps considering a jaunt down the bike path or nearby golf course.

Rather than taking on a more intensive workout, the deer decided on a better plan: Eat.

Police arrived and called Chicago’s Animal Control Department.

They were able to capture the deer, who were unharmed.
