Watch: Elementary School Class Loses Its Mind When Michael Jordan Makes Surprise Visit

(CBS) Michael Jordan holds a special distinction in popular culture. Not only is he widely regarded as the greatest basketball player ever, but his likeness is timeless.

How do we know?

Even grade-schoolers who weren't yet born when he dominated the NBA lose their minds at the sight of him.

On Monday, Jordan -- now owner of the Hornets -- made a surprise visit to an elementary school class in the Charlotte as part of a citywide initiative that the Hornets, Lowe's and Fox Sports Carolinas/SportSouth joined in on that worked to beautify and refurbish the school. The companies also teamed up to make a $250,000 donation to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public School Foundation's Teacher Innovation Fund.

The entertaining part, of course, was when Jordan entered the classroom. It only took a second for the class to go crazy.
